I was fortunate enough to win an invite to the Fume Scent Lounge event hosted by Dave Lackie and also introducing Marc Jacob’s new scents Daisy Twinkle. This experience was unique in that Fume Scent Lounge is the only one of its kind .
It was held in the cosmetics dept beside Mac Cosmetics and the mall. It’s design is extraordinary and lends itself to something out of the future as does its concept and technology.
Created by Dianne Sonnenberg ,a State of the art interactive touch screen guides you to help discover top notes that you are drawn to from a few questions to the Scent lighting up for you to smell along with three perfumes that are perfect for you. In my case it was 100% accurate as it choose my two Scents that I already own and love. The third is on my list of must haves now,it was the Bogetta Veneta.
It was a very special event in that it was the day before Valentines Day so love ,beautiful scents and wonderful people filled the room. We have Dave Lackie to thank for that ,his events are thoughtful and detailed like no one else can .The room was filled with displays of flowers and perfumes and the most beautiful Daisy Marc Jacob’s floral background
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres were constantly flowing throughout the room and it was wonderful speaking with people about the technology that worked for everyone! It was a learning experience that was unique and I don’t think I will ever pick a perfume anymore without referring to Fume Scent Lounge technology first!
It was a wonderful experience with wonderful people who care about beauty and sharing this experience and we were fortunate to have received a gracious gift bag with Daisy Twinkle perfume, makeup pouch and bracelets, how cute is that? Very sweet and generous indeed
I know it kinda weird to be this excited about a car in that I am writing a blog post about it but yeah I am so excited and wasn’t entirely sure why? Yes I have coveted Fiats for years and remember exactly the first time I saw one I was in Hamiton visiting family when I saw one , a red one park outside a Starbucks!and that was it! Love at first sight!
Having had just purchased a new to me Volvo which was wonderful and perfect for our growing family. I did love it but didn’t have this in love feeling I do with this Fiat. I have never in my life named a car nor wasn’t interested in the motor sounds but I am interested in both of those things now! I named ,well actually a friend @jeffreySmith named my car and it was aperfect fit!An Italian royal name for my Italian little beauty seemed absolutely appropriate! Meet Contessa! My Fiat 500L Trekking, new to me! I know far too many details about this car but knew nothing of my Volvo. I did enjoy my Volvo immensely but somethings different about this one. Could it be the two tone interior with the classic brown Italian leather trim accents on the steering wheel, or perhaps the cuteness of the design and prompt use of space. Is it the fact that it has a sun/ moonroof that is panoramic that makes you feel like you can see everything or maybe the U connect that makes communicating so safe and easy and is a nice feature which is definitely new territory for me! I think it’s all of these factors that make this car special to me! It very comfortable to drive and I enjoy the two color exterior.I hope this car performs well and we have a great relationship! I know it’s just a car but…… I am smitten with it and it’s so very very cute!
This week was unusual in the sense that I had two events to go to and the first being the Carolina Herrera launch of her perfume Good Girl hosted by Dave Lackie atop the Hudson Bay overlooking the city, in particular the iconic Toronto landmark sign and skate rink!
I arrive early as per usual which gave me the time I needed to walk around the iconic landmark Hudson Bay Christmas windows just as It was getting dark. This is my third year in a row being in the right place at the right time although next year I hope for my daughter’s to join me but I videotaped the windows to show the girls. My favourite window was the tiny Fiat with a lit Christmas tree on top on it!
Time to head to inside Hudson Bay where I met up with friends in the Cosmetics Department which is the best place to be and possibly My favourite place on earth! Friends that were also attending the Good Girl Scent Event . As we anxiously await we decided to head upstairs for the event. Once there we were greeted with Good Girl cocktails, champagne and a flower that is no doubt a note in the fragrance! Dave Lackie is the best at the details that truly take his events to an over the top level of pure luxury!I was so happy and having fun I forgot to take a picture of the cocktails and I also was pleasantly surprised by a friend @jeffreysmith that stopped by!
The crowd was rowdy and the energy was contagious as I think we were just so happy to be there! So many wonderful people from Twitter and we all have a like minded interest in beauty! All thanks to Dave Lackie!
This brings me to the Good Girl Scent created by Carolina Herrera. It unlike any other in its design, I mean it’s a stiletto!! The scent does not disappoint as it is floral and moody yet remains feminine .
. It has jasmine, coffee and cocoa in it which gives it an earthy yet elegant combination! It’s really beautiful!
The dinner was delicious and the salad was a work of art in itself! Everyone had a wonderful time as we couldn’t stop talking and so many playful moments and memories!
As you can from theses photos no one was shy! This is @djrm Daniel Murphy with @sempteberdee and @mittionEmily Emily Mitton
As one would expect at @Davelackie VIP Twitter event that people from all over the world were following along winning items throughout the dinner .
All in all this was an amazing experience,Event,Dinner launch that will go down in the books as a magical night with magical people in a magical place atop Hudson Bay! To top it off each guest received a Good Girl Scent to take home! It is absolutely a magical Scent!
I also wanted to mention I made everything that I wore to this event! My coat, dress and bow brooch was made by me! I can’t even believe that but it’s true and I loved that each piece felt comfortable but elegant with a very vintage feel!
Wearing my handmade Bow brooch that I made and thought it was appropriate and Diorish
Waking on a gloomy November day in the woods outside peterborough didn’t bother me because I was on my way to Dior Yorkdale. I was invited for a makeover with a small group of friends. There is nothing more fabulous then hanging out at the Dior station in the Cosmetics department! My memories of this department go way back into my childhood and basically has left a profound affect on my life, especially at Christmas time, the Cosmetics department was always decorated with white and silver trees, which is why I have one white tree and two silver trees decorated with my vintage ornaments.
I was invited by Dave Lackie and it was executed by Darline Chalmer Public Relations and Makeup Artist for Dior and Anne Marie Makeup artist and teacher for Dior. When I heard the pop of champagne I know this makeover had begun! We were each assigned a makeup artist and mine was Daisy who was not only talented by very kind and extremely informative and explained each step exactly!
I was a tad obsessed with the Diorific Khol Powder Lipstick #991 and Daisy created the look around this shade! But Daisy had to take off the lipstick I came in first! I wasn’t brave enough to leave the house without any makeup on!
The look was created using the High Fidelity Colours and Effects In Magnify
I was absolutely thrilled with my look and learned so much about each product used. This group was wonderful! We talked and laughed and it just was afternoon that I will never forget, filled with great people interested in like minded things ! If this day wasn’t perfect enough, each guest received a gift bag of goodies!! Theses goodies are fabulous! We had a Dior Skin Air Flash Spray Foundation matched to us and is basically magic in a bottle!,a Flash Luminizer Radiant Booster Pen,Fix It 2 in 1 concealer ,a Backstage Pros Lip Sugar Scrub,a Rouge Dior Lipstick and a Dior Pump’n Volume.I am so wowed by this bag and I can tell you these products are incredible and will give you a go to look for everyday and or Christmas and New Years Eve.
Thank you to Dave Lackie and the Dior team for a fabulous makeover and the most absolutely fabulous experience with great people! This gift bag was extraordinary and I have started using immediately!
I had decided that it being I’ve haven’t tried to sew a coat yet I would try my hand at this Vogue Vintage Car Coat and enter it into our local Norwood Fair that has a strong school and craft decision! It’s fairly major in that people enter from all around Canada, from baking , art , sewing, agricultural etc. This pattern was the most complicated challenge yet as I had a hard time with the gussets. I also had a hard time with the fabric itself was fraying terribly and I have to admit I threw it against the wall in a pile of pieces a few times!
I know now after two Vogue patterns that they are made with a long torso for tall women so I had to cut off six inches while in progress! Not the best time but not the worst time because it worked!
I chose a black men’s suiting fabric for the exterior and a crepe material for the interior. I thought the combination was perfect!
I think all the trouble this venture gave me makes me love this coat even more! I think to the time I threw it against the wall in a pile of pieces and I am amazed it in one piece! The fit , the fabric is so beautiful I cannot believe I made this! To top it off it won a blue ribbon coming in second prize at the Norwood Fair! I also entered my Barbie dress and a white overlay dress which both came in second as well!
After the Fair I decided that I didn’t like the sleeves as they were too short so I extended with a cuff and added a black button! Now it’s perfect! I love this Coat and am proud of myself for not giving up!
This week I went to heaven on earth on Eighth floor of Hudson Bay for the Guerlain launch of the Kiss Kiss matte lipstick hosted by Dave Lackie, Cityline beauty expert and creator of Beauty the Guide.
The venue was grand and glamorous and the signature Kiss Kiss cocktails were so pretty made with Grapefruit and vodka with a I think were petunias adorned the drink. It was light and refreshing and so delicious!!This room had an air of old world Hollywood, it was so glamorous!! I loved it!! I honestly cannot imagine a more perfect evening.
The space was large and it was spectacular filled with makeup stations and ingredients used to make some of the Guerlain products .I also had the pleasure of meeting Vice President of marketing Sandrine Briatte! She was informative and a beautiful, kind person.
I was also already a fan of Maxime Poulin international makeup artist for Guerlain. He was very sweet and gave me a touch up. He did in moments what takes me ages to do, a soft natural glow using the new Guerlain Baby Glow Luminizer and the new Kiss Kiss lipstick in Spicy Burgundy.
It was wonderful seeing familiar faces and meeting new Twitter friends.
The food was exquisite and probably the best meal I’ve ever had!!!
This was an evening of great company, incredible food and the best beauty products from an historical, luxury brand.I am obsessed with the Baby Glow Luminizer, it’s in a stick and is so easy to use! Mine is in the colour Golden Glow.
Each guest received a gift bag of Guerlain items that are wonderful and so luxe!!
Thank you to @DaveLackie, @CookieGigan and Beth Anderson for having me, it was an honour to be there and I am always grateful for the time we share together.Thank you!!!
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon I found myself at my sewing machine making this little fun beauty vest. It was my first time doing a flounce and it was really interesting to learn how to create it. I am not sure I did the best job but I am overjoyed at the results . This is a whimsical item that I will probably wear a lot and I LOVE Barbie! So here it is in all its glory my whimsical vest!
